[TourBox Tips] Use Knob to Switch Brushes in Clip Studio Paint

If you're using TourBox to enhance your digital art creation, you can switch brushes by mapping the shortcuts for Clip Studio Paint brushes onto the buttons of your TourBox controller.

We've previously shared a tutorial on mapping Clip Studio Paint brush shortcuts to TourBox buttons. If you're interested, check it out.

However, mapping brush shortcuts to TourBox buttons is best suited when you have only 4-5 commonly used brush combinations.

When you have more than 4 favorite brush combinations, relying solely on TourBox button mappings becomes impractical.

After all, TourBox buttons are limited. Mapping multiple brushes to TourBox buttons not only takes up your available button slots but also proves cumbersome in operation.

In such cases, you can group multiple brushes into a macro and assign this macro to the Knob on TourBox. This way, you can switch brushes using the Knob control instead of buttons.

The upcoming setup involves creating TourBox macros. If you're unfamiliar with using TourBox macros, check out our related tutorial. Don't worry, it's not complex—you'll grasp it in 2 minutes.

Firstly, in Clip Studio Paint's shortcut settings panel, switch to the Tools category and assign shortcuts to your commonly used brushes.

Return to TourBox Console and create a brush-switching macro.

In this macro, create a GROUP for each brush you want to include. If, for instance, you want to switch among 10 common brushes using the Knob, create 10 GROUPs.

Add the configured brush shortcuts to each GROUP sequentially. Each GROUP corresponds to a brush shortcut.

Ensure that the Loop mode is checked for this macro so that once all the GROUPs within this macro have been executed, it will start over and loop again from the beginning.

After setting up, don't rush to try it yet. You'll notice the macro is configured in only one direction of the Knob. You need to configure it in the other direction as well.

Now, rotating the Knob forward or backward will switch brushes. However, you'll find both directions cycle through brushes in the same order.

By clicking the arrow button in the backward direction area, you can set the backward action to reverse order.

All set! Give it a try in Clip Studio Paint. Simply turn the Knob to switch between your commonly used brushes!
