[TourBox Tips] Toggle Premiere Razor & Selection Tools with One Button

In Premiere Pro, the Razor Tool and Selection Tool are two commonly used tools for cutting video clips. The shortcuts for these two tools are:

    • Razor Tool: C
    • Selection Tool: V

You can map these two tool shortcuts directly to two buttons on the TourBox, so you can easily switch between the tools by pressing the buttons.

However, since these tools are frequently used interchangeably, assigning them to separate buttons might not be the most efficient setup.

Is there a way to bind these two tools to a single button on the TourBox, allowing you to toggle between them with just one button?

The setup we are about to share might require some familiarity with the macros and GROUP functions of the TourBox. If you are a bit unfamiliar with these functions, please refer to our corresponding tutorials.

In the TourBox Console, click on any button to enter the settings panel. Then switch to the macro tab and create a macro.

In the macro list, create a GROUP for this macro.

Map the Razor Tool shortcut to GROUP 1 and the Selection Tool shortcut to GROUP 2.

Make sure to activate the Loop mode for this GROUP.

Voila! Now, head to your Premiere Pro project and give it a try. With just one press of a TourBox button, you can seamlessly switch between the Razor and Selection Tools!
